Parking Charges and Bus Fares
- Drivers must tap a METRO Q® Fare Card to raise the parking gate and enter the lot. The exit gate will open automatically.
- $2.00 will be deducted upon entering, with two exceptions: If the METRO Q® Fare Card has a vanpool contract, no money will be deducte.
- If the METRO Q® Fare Card has a discount contract (student, senior, or disabled), $1.00 will be deducted.
- Carpoolers will pay $2.00 to enter the garage.
- Bus riders will have the balance of their fare deducted when they tap their METRO Q® Fare Card upon boarding the bus: $2.50 if full-fare (for a total of $4.50); $1.25 if discount (for a total of $2.25). The bus boarding is treated as a transfer, but the difference between the “Route 800” fare paid at the garage entrance and the bus fare must be deducted.
- Bus riders who re-enter the garage after leaving in the evening will not be charged, unless the 2 hour transfer period has expired. The transfer period begins when the METRO Q® Fare Card is first tapped upon boarding the bus.
- Anyone who believes that their METRO Q® Fare Card was mischarged should contact the METRO Q® Fare Card Help Desk by calling 713-635-4000 and selecting option 2 after choosing the language.
On September 4, 2007, METRO opened its 217 Cypress Park & Ride garage and bus facility.
The opening of METRO's first parking garage brought changes that affect how you park and ride. These changes are needed to ensure that METRO patrons have first priority for safe and convenient parking.
Parking garage hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. - 9 p.m. Please remove your vehicle before 9 p.m.

What about the HOV on 290?
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is developing plans for the widening of US 290 and their plans include managed lanes that extend beyond Fairfield. The managed lanes will be used by a mix of HOV traffic and toll traffic. There will be two lanes in each direction and they will operate continuously. The project also includes a reserved 50 foot High Capacity Corridor for transit. The schedule for TxDOT to begin construction is around 2010.
Please click here to view the TxDOT site regarding the US 290 study.
Currently, the HOV lanes on 290 operates Monday thru Friday from 5 to 8 am inbound, and from 2 to 8 p.m. outbound. These lanes are open to vehicles with two or more occupants, except from 6:45 to 8 a.m., when vehicles must have 3 or more occupants.
QuickRide is a program that allows commuters with less than three passengers to continue driving the HOV during these times for just $2 each way. Registration is required. For more information on QuickRide, call 713-224-RIDE, 1-888-606-RIDE (toll free) or send your e-mail to rideshare@ridemetro.org.
