METRO is providing the art, you provide the critic, well, maybe it should be "critique" as Arts In Transit is exhibited for review by the people who matter most - and that's our public. An open invitation was sent for the community to see the latest exhibit wtih designs for the following stations: Boundary and Burnett Plaza on the North Corridor, and Cesar Chavez/ 67th Street on the East End. The artists selected for these stations refined their original proposals based on comments received from the public. METRO Solutions invited the public to view new renderings for these three stations between March 22 and April 22, 2010 during office hours 8:30am - 5:30pm and at evening Open House events.
It's All In the Art Building on the success of the art installations on the Main Street Light Rail line, the METRO Solutions Public Art Program will provide transit passengers and the surrounding neighborhoods with a rich variety of artwork. Works of art are being tailored to the character of each neighborhood, reflecting community image, culture, identity, and architectural heritage. Development of transit art is based on a cooperative approach with the community, emphasizing public participation during the artist and project selection process. For more information regarding the selection process, click here. In 2006, forty artists were selected as finalists of the METRO Solutions Public Arts Program. From this pool of exceptional talent, 19 artists have been selected to enhance stations on the North, East End and Southeast Lines. Selection took place between Feb. 26 and Mar. 2, 2007. Formal artist proposals are currently on display at your local outreach office. |
