Follow-up activities

As a follow-up to this event, QWIC referred several Small businesses to Granite Construction project managers for sub-surface utilities pot-holing.  Discussions began with 7 firms and meetings with 3 additional DBE's have been scheduled.  Granite Construction is using QWIC's resources to seek qualified SBE/DBEs for this phase of the project.

QWIC received 107 phone calls from firms requesting one-on-one meetings for placement opportunities.   Due to the increased call volume generated from this event we are requesting additional lines.   The number for the SBE/DBE Program is (713) 652-7981.

QWIC has scheduled meetings for this week and will be sending out a follow-up mailer to participants requesting further information.  QWIC is collecting and analyzing questions and answers/assessment forms to further address additional concerns that may not have been clarified during the initial meeting.

QWIC is building an SBE/DBE database and will have the snapshot available on-line, pending final contract approval.

QWIC, WGI and METRO have been working towards identifying potential SBE/DBEs to METRO and will be expediting certification process.

As a result of the April 3rd event, QWIC received positive media coverage.  In addition, several media outlets have requested further discussions to track our progress on this project.

Our collective efforts have afforded us the opportunity to align our goals and present valuable support services to assist the SBE/DBEs within the community.
