METRO Solutions' Public-Private Partnership accepted in federal pilot program

In our February 26 edition of NewsFlash, we announced METRO's preparation of a proposal for consideration in a Federal pilot program aimed at streamlining federal approval processes.  The Public-Private Partnership Pilot Program, known as Penta-P, allows the Federal Transit Administration and USDOT to work in partnership with the transit agencies to complete projects faster and at less cost.

Last week, U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters announced  that METRO's North and Southeast Corridors were selected into Penta-P.  METRO is one of two transit agencies in the country to be selected for this program, so far.  The other project selected for Penta-P is the BART to Oakland Airport Connector in California's Bay Area.  The third program has yet to be formally announced.

Acceptance in this innovative program represents a long-term commitment of federal support for these two METRO Solutions projects because it authorizes the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to provide incentives which might include accelerated approval for final design and expedited  approval of a Full Funding Grant Agreement.

Read more about METRO's acceptance into this program in our news release.
