METRO to add more service hours to its bus service 

METRO announced today that the August service changes include 14 more local trips on routes such as the 1 Hospital and 85 Antoine.  One new commuter trip will also be added on the 221 Kingsland.  In total, METRO is adding more than 78 hours each weekday.

The announcement came today at a METRO Board meeting together with the approval of the purchase of 100 new hybrid buses.

An industry publication reported on a study by the University of North Texas Center for Economic Development and Research suggesting light rail's return on investment is not small change.  The report quotes Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) officials reacting on the study's significance, as well as reference to the federal Public Private Partnership Pilot Program (Penta-P).  As we reported recently, two of METRO Solutions' projects were selected in the Penta P program.
